Agent Setup Guide

Get a gaming PC locked down right.

Installing the client is the easy part. This covers pairing it to a Device, setting a technician PIN before it locks you out of your own settings, and what every kiosk toggle actually does.

Chapter 2

Download and install

  1. From your Owner Dashboard, click Download Client and run it on the gaming PC. Approve the admin prompt.
  2. A setup wizard opens with a two-option role picker. The same download also installs LANBear Vault, so it's worth knowing what each one does before continuing:
    • Agent + Vault (recommended): the kiosk, and this PC also mounts the shared game library. Pick this for almost every floor PC.
    • Agent only: the kiosk, without joining the shared library. Pick this for a PC that shouldn't touch Vault at all, like a front-desk machine.
    Neither option locks in whether this specific PC ends up hosting the library for everyone else; that's assigned afterward from the Center panel, not here. See the Vault Setup Guide if that's what you're setting up.
  3. Click through the rest of the wizard. It installs as a Windows service for every user on the machine and launches on its own once it's done.

Note

Scripting a rollout instead? msiexec /i LANBearVault.msi /quiet ROLE=Agent (Agent only) or ROLE=AgentNode (Agent + Vault; the command-line value is still AgentNode even though the wizard now calls it "Agent + Vault") skips the wizard entirely.
