Vault Setup Guide

One shared game library, set up right.

The full technical walkthrough: pairing the Vault Server, installing the Node app on every PC, designating an Update PC, and (the step most guides skip) actually publishing what it installs.

Provision the shared disk

Back on Vault Settings, once the Server shows as paired, you'll see a short provisioning form:

  • Drive letter: picked from the drives that PC actually reports as free, not typed by hand.
  • Size: defaults to 500 GB, minimum 10 GB. Size it for the games you plan to keep on the shared library, with room to grow.
  • Volume label: defaults to "LANBearVault", shown in Windows Explorer on every PC that mounts it.

Note

Clicking Provision doesn't happen instantly. It queues the job, and the Server PC picks it up on its next check-in (usually within a minute or so). Vault Settings shows a green Enabled badge once it's done.

With the disk provisioned, you're ready to bring the rest of the floor's PCs into Vault. That's the next chapter.
